Preface
The name of this temple is (金德院), pronounced Jin De Yuan in Chinese official script (Han Yu Pin Yin) and pronounced Kim Tek Ie in dialect of Hok Kian ethnic group, meaning Temple of Gold Goodness (Kelenteng Kebajikan Emas). In the past, this temple had ever lived 18 (Buddhist) Monks originating from Cu Su Sian Sie monastery, Poh Chan Regency, Hok Kian, South China. Kim Tek Ie characters described on the Temple main board (1936) was written by Monks Biauw Gie, the Head of Kim Tek Ie Temple at that time. Similarly poem in pairs described on left-right main gate with the following words:
- Kim Teng Kiat Siang In , Pian Khay Hoat Khai (金鼎結祥雲遍開法界) Gold Burning of Incense Forming Cloud of Happiness, all places are open, likewise to Dharma World).
- Tek Bun Theng Sui Khi, Kong Pho Jin Khan (德門呈瑞氣廣布人間) (Gate of Goodness shows atmosphere of glory, spread widely on the Universe).
Believe and respect on the existence of the God Almighty has been existent since long time ago. Even such kind of this belief has been existed since 5,000 years ago, in Ngo Te Era (Five Ancient Emperors, the year 2952-2205 Before Christ)
A follower (of a religion) prior to worshipping to the Deities must first always pray to the Creator of the Universe (Thi Kong). That is by lifting the hands upward to the unoccupied sky as a direction, Sangkan Paraning Dumadi. Wherever the place, it is unlimited by space and time, a follower can pray to God by facing upward to the sky. Actually worship in the temple including monotheism religion, because of recognition the existence of God the Almighty. Meanwhile the Deities here are as representatives of God in the world who listening all prayers from His followers. Thi Kong in Tao religion is Giok Hong Siang Tee.
